Let's work together to write a paragraph based on the chart we did on "Falling Man".
Remember:
Point
Evidence
Explanation
Discussion
Share the graphic organizers you did with the class. Which questions and responses would lead to good writing? Which threads do you think need some work or were not strong questions to begin with? If the students in each group each chose one question to write about, which one should it be? (Do you see where this is leading?)
Independent Practice: Writing
Draft a paragraph using one of the rows from your group's graphic organizer. Your "So" box will get you started on your point. Your "It Says" box will get you started on your evidence. (Make sure to embed quotations into your writing.) Your "I Say" box will get you started on your explanation. Think of the question you started with as your writing prompt. Post your paragraph on your blog.
Homework
If you are unhappy with your grade on your open response, you can rewrite and resubmit it to me (email or on paper) by Monday (A Day) or Tuesday (B Day).
Make sure your paragraph is written!!!! We will look at these as a class next time.
